My name is Otha Melton, a Radio Enthusiast who has the personality traits of a person with Asperger’s Syndrome, a neurological disorder that is on the mild, or high-functioning end, of the autistic spectrum. A person with this disorder has normal to above normal intelligence but who are impaired in the area of social interaction, social skills, and emotional regulation. Moreover, people who have Asperger’s Syndrome have “special interests”, which are hobbies or passions that to be unusual either in intensity or focus. My special interests over the years of my life have been the following: reading maps, the weather, and testing radio stations. The last special interest, however, is my primary interest these days and has been my interest since I was in middle school in the mid 1990s. As a result of my unusual interest in radio, I have acquired a plethora of knowledge in radio over the years and have a number of plans for local radio stations in Jacksonville, FL, the city where I was born and raised and where I currently reside. Outside of radio, my other interests include history and learning about Asperger’s Syndrome and autism.
